Hello!

We are Rudy and Phil. Thank you for considering us. We can only imagine what you are experiencing right now, and we respect the courage and love you are showing as you consider the best path for your child. We hope that by sharing our story, we can assure you that if you choose us, your child will be raised in a home filled with security, dedication, and unconditional love.

We met during graduate school in Chicago in 2008. We connected over a shared interest in science and soon realized we also shared values of family, support, and commitment. We began dating in April 2009 and spent the following years building a happy life together before marrying in May 2016. We found professional fulfillment, Phil as a specialized physician and Rudy as a medical researcher, and we brought home our dog, a gentle and affectionate collie named Coco.

We are not new to adoption. We adopted our daughter, Lucy, in 2022 when she was seven weeks old. We loved her instantly. We chose her name from the Latin word for "light," which is fitting since she truly is the light of our lives. We have reshaped our lives in the best interest of our daughter; Rudy is now a stay-at-home parent, and we moved to a suburb between Milwaukee and Madison with outdoor space, excellent parks, highly rated libraries, top-tier schools, and close friends nearby. Lucy is a happy child who loves story time, dancing, and music. We cherish our little girl and are thankful beyond words to have her as our daughter. We know we will cherish another child just as deeply, and we are certain Lucy will be a wonderful big sister.

We have always dreamed of having at least two children. If we are fortunate enough to welcome another child, they will grow up surrounded by a large and caring extended family. Whether we are celebrating Rudy’s Mexican-American heritage with his relatives in Texas or visiting Phil’s family in Illinois, your child will be embraced by aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

Finally, we want you to know that we are open to a relationship that feels right for you—whether through photos, letters, texts, or visits. Our hope is that your child always knows the story of the love that brought them to us.
