Our family- Megan, Greg, big brother Michael (7.5 at time of adoption- now 11!) our adoption blessing Jaimeson ( right side of photo -now 3.5yrs) and their little brother Gabriel (left side of photo -ivf blessing, now almost three).
We met Jaimeson’s birth parents 1 month prior to his birth, we hit it off right away. It was truly amazing, unbelievable almost! From the beginning it just felt like we were old friends, like minded and we had immediate respect and trust. We missed Jaimeson’s birth- he came too quickly! But we got to the hospital the next day. These are photos of him with his birth parents that first morning when we met him. They adore and love him.
Here is a photo of us getting him ready to go home with us after his birth parents said their difficult goodbye. See his proud big brother!
Here is a photo of Jaimeson and his birth parents at the zoo after they had finished their termination of parental rights hearing. This was a tremendously difficult day for them. I was amazed that they chose to spend time with him and us after such a difficult experience. They told us it was very helpful and affirming to see him and us on this most difficult of days. They told us they felt reassured of our love for him, our love of them and theirs of us and a renewed trust that they had made the right decision.
This is a very special picture of big brother Michael when he finally trusted that he was a big brother. We had waited 7.5 years (between infertility and adoption). He was waiting 2.5 years with two prior failed attempts at adoption during that time. See how relaxed and overjoyed he was – he had a brother (finally)!
We are blessed with the most amazing open adoption experience I could have hoped for. I text, email and talk with Jaimeson’s birth parents and extended birth family frequently! His birth family is amazing and shows us love and we do the same with them. It isn’t an act, it isn’t hard, it is natural and normal. We have no fears and we mutually trust each other. Jaimeson will thrive in his nuclear and broader families! He is loved and we are so luck to have been chosen by his birth parents.
Here are our three crazy boys who came to us from all the miracle ways- each one unique! The picture speaks volumes – it was worth the wait!
